Advanced Placement Courses
Advanced Placement courses offer students many advantages when they enter college including academic credit, exemption from introductory courses, and permission to take higher level courses. More than 500,000 students nationwide participate in the AP course selection each year and receive many of these benefits. Nonnewaug students should check with the college they plan to attend to verify the benefits offered to AP students.

All Nonnewaug High School students enrolled in AP Course are required to take the AP examinations each May which replace the regular course final exam. Students and their families are responsible for the AP Exam Fee.
The Educational Testing Service (ETS) who administers the AP Exams offers a fee reduction for qualifying families. The ETS sets qualifying standards. Students must apply prior to November 1 of each year. Please contact the AP Coordinators in the School Counseling Department at (203) 263-0253 to discuss eligibility for the fee reduction program.
AP TEST SCORES
After students take an AP Exam, the College Board sends a score report to the college or university that was designated on the student's answer sheet. The score report is cumulative and includes scores for all the AP Exams ever taken. When students login online, they will be able to see their entire score report and score-send history. If students wish to send additional score reports to colleges, universities and scholarship programs, they can do so online for a fee.
