Student Life
Students at Mitchell Elementary School can participate in a variety of co-curricular activities designed to enrich their experiences both in and out of the classroom.
Beginning in Grade 3, students have the opportunity to join the school orchestra and the chorus. In Grade 4, students are offered the opportunity to join the school band. Students showcase their skills with performances in the winter and spring.
Each year, 5th graders at Bethlehem and Mitchell Elementary Schools come together for the DARE program where they learn good decision-making skills to help them lead responsible lives and enhance safety in schools, neighborhoods, and their community.
In addition, each spring the 5th graders from both schools come together for several team building opportunities to ease the transition for them to Woodbury Middle School in the fall.
Mitchell School also has its own Student Council. Four elected 5th grade students are chosen by their 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade peers each November. Non-elected upper grade level students who wish to attend meetings as class liaisons are welcomed. Members plan and participate in community service projects in an around the school as well as in the Woodbury community.
