Superintendent's Update - 5/21/20

Dear Region 14 Families,

The purpose of my letter today is to let you know of two very important changes in Region 14.

It is with great pleasure that we announce that Ms. Wendy Yatsenick has been appointed as Principal of Bethlehem Elementary School. We feel very fortunate to have yet another superbly qualified individual from within Region 14 to work as an educational leader. Wendy brings to the position many years in elementary school teaching and significant experiences in secondary education. She is a leader in the RULER program and a well-known fixture in the Bethlehem community through her work with Bethlehem Cares / Woodbury Food- bank, the Juvenile Review Board and the VoAg program. We look forward to her long tenure as principal at BES.

Last evening at the Board of Education meeting the Board unanimously approved a date for the last day of school for students pending final review by the legal counsel for the region. Upon consultation with our attorney today we have determined that the last day of school for all students will be Tuesday, June 16, 2020. Governor Lamont’s executive orders have allowed school districts to end school on the day that was originally scheduled prior to any snow days or COVID related closing days. For our students that day is June 16th.

Teachers and staff will work through June 22, 2020 on professional development and to plan for next year.

Sincerely,

Joseph A. Olzacki, Ed. D.

Superintendent of Schools
