NHS News Update - 11/18/2022

Dear Parents and Guardians:

As Thanksgiving Break approaches, we have many announcements and updates for you. Please read below and contact us if you have any questions. We hope that you all have a restful and joy-filled holiday!

Capture Reports - Parents and guardians will receive an email with information about how to access your student’s first quarter capture report. The grades on the capture report under Q1 represent your student’s grades for assignments due between September 1st and November 3rd. It is important to note that we utilize a rolling grades system. Therefore, if your student’s grades on assignments within the 9/1 to 11/3 time frame have changed since November 3rd, the grade reflected on the capture report may no longer be accurate. We encourage you to view your student’s grades through your PowerSchool Parent Portal. The Q2 grade for each of your student’s classes are the most accurate reflections of your student’s current average for the course.

MBLE (Mastery Based Learning Experince)- On Tuesday, November 8th, approximately 20 juniors and seniors presented their Mastery-Based Learning Projects to a committee of district teachers. The staff was impressed by the thoughtfulness shown by these students as they presented their work. We’d like to congratulate these students for successfully completing this graduation requirement and embodying the Vision of a Learner attributes. For the MBLE project, each student chooses an experience they are passionate about, interested in, or want to learn more about.  This is an opportunity for students to learn and give back to the community.  Juniors and seniors can find information about this graduation requirement under the Classwork tab in the Class of 2023 and Class of 2024 Classrooms. If you or your child have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs. McKay at JMcKay@ctreg14.org.

Veterans Day Ceremony -  In honor of Veterans Day last week, a ceremony was held on Wednesday, November 10th. All NHS students attended to show their respect and acknowledgement of the sacrifices made by the veterans in attendance. Following the ceremony, each veteran received a package of cookies baked by the NHS culinary students.
