Good Evening Parents and Staff,

I would like to inform you that Dr. Mykal Kuslis has been named the Principal of Nonnewaug High School effective July 1, 2023. Dr. Kuslis is currently an Assistant Principal at Bullard-Havens High School, and was a Physical Education/Health teacher at Ridgefield and Platt Technical High Schools.

Dr. Kuslis’s accomplishments include serving as the co-chair of the NEASC visit at Ridgefield High School, and enhancing student wellness and school climate programs. He believes in taking a proactive approach to ensuring a safe and positive learning environment for all students by creating meaningful relationships and developing a rapport with students, parents, and staff that are centered around transparency and trust. His goal is to meet the needs of individual learners and involve all stakeholders in achieving the mission of Nonnewaug High School.

Dr. Kuslis earned a Doctorate in Instructional Leadership from Western Connecticut State University, and a Master of Science Degree in Special Education from Central Connecticut State University. He also serves as an infantry officer and Company Commander in the Connecticut Army National Guard. A former Girls and Boys Soccer Coach, Softball and Track Coach, and the owner and operator of his family farm in Watertown, Dr. Kuslis understands the importance of discipline and commitment in all of his professional and personal endeavors.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Kuslis into the Region 14 family. He is eager to partner with all of the students, parents, and staff to take Nonnewaug High School to the next level of excellence.
