Mrs. Pinho’s MES Community Update 5/15/23

 

Dear Mitchell families,

Update on news and announcements here……..

• First let me take the time to thank our wonderful PTO and the many parents who sent in tokens of appreciation to both myself and our teachers during Teacher/Administrator Appreciation!! It was overwhelming the amount of kindness and generosity that was shown.

• FRIED DOUGH FRIDAY IS THIS WEEK! Remember lunches are now free so all can enjoy!

• Cardboard Challenge update - I want to thank Mr. Cribari and Mrs. Chapman for all the time they spent in preparing our students with this.  Unfortunately I could not be at the presentation day due to a previous commitment but I heard the projects were incredible!! On that note if you are interested in picking up your child’s game it must be picked up by dismissal time tomorrow Wednesday 5/17th as we need to make room on the stage.

• Smarter balanced testing continues  this week for 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders! Thank you to parents who reached out to me already with potential issues with testing, it is truly appreciated for planning. Please make every effort to get your child to school during the testing days and on time.  One last reminder if you would like to send in headphones from home to make your child more comfortable we totally support that! All phones and smartwatches should be off and in book bags on the days of testing!

• Last day to sign up for the Talent Show will be this Friday May 19th. The link is below.  Practices will be held during some recess times with a full rehearsal on Monday June 12th. Most preparation should occur outside of school however.

• Please remember with the warm weather coming in to try to send your children in with water bottles. Thank you!

• Remember if you have a child turning 5 by Jan, 2024 you must register them on the Region 14 website.  We have Kindergarten Screening at the end of May so please register as soon as possible to be included. (https://www.ctreg14.org/studentsparents/student-registration)    

• There will be a special notice coming soon regarding all of the 5th grade activities.
