Weather Related Closures as Remote Learning Days

October 28, 2020

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Friends of Region 14:

Two days ago, the Commissioner of Education and the State of Connecticut Board of Education decided that, “with the exception of power outages, snow days would now be considered as Remote Learning Days.  In Region 14 this means, when we cancel school, it will be regarded as an ALL REMOTE DAY where everyone in the district will work from home and students must sign into their classes and participate as they normally would.  Students not participating will be counted as absent. An added benefit will be that we will not have to extend our school year as we have had to in the past and in “the good old days.” The only time a full cancelation would occur is when there is a power outage that affects a significant portion of a town.

We have made many improvements to our remote learning and will continue to work to make our system supportive.  Please let us know if there is anything that we can do to help support your student’s learning.

Thank you all,
