Student Services

The mission of the Student Services Department is to ensure that the Special Education faculty, including teachers and related service providers, can and should be an integral part of student's education in each building. Special education services should be woven into the fabric of the overall system to enable service delivery that is as seamless as possible while simultaneously allowing special educators to reach out to struggling students in a manner that is proactive and promotes achievement.

The Student Services Department provides support services to Region 14 students and their families in a variety of areas. Services include special education, speech and language therapy, physical and occupational therapy, school psychology, and tutoring for English Language Learners.

Special education staff work closely with district faculty and staff members to identify individual student needs. Specific plans and programs for students who require them are identified through individual Planning and Placement Team (PPT) meetings. The PPT identifies students who are eligible for special education so that Individual Education Plans (IEPs) can be designed for those students.

Region 14 is guided by the principle that all students can learn and thrive. We are committed to having all students participate in the general education curriculum fully supported with services and instruction designed with appropriate interventions in specific skill areas to help them reach their fullest potential.
