MES & WMS Students Take Honors in Math Olympiad
The Mitchell Elementary and Woodbury Middle School students who participated in the Math Olympiad team had an outstanding experience.
Seven students from MES and three students from WMS earned awards. Zachary Coehlo, MES 4th grade, and Penelope Losh, WMS 8th grade, scored in the top 20% nationally -- an outstanding accomplishment. At Mitchell, Alexander Losh scored in the top 25%, while William Lee, Noah Fisher, Gabriel Freccero, and William Savulak scored in the top 40%. Dean Morrisroe scored in the top 50%. At WMS, Victoria Wolf scored in the top 30% nationally, and Levi Chmielewski scored in the top 50%.
These students and advisor, MES LMC Specialist and TAG Coordinator Allison Loiseau, were recognized at last night’s Board of Education meeting. This is the second year for the Math Olympiad at MES and the first year for a WMS team. The competition is exceptionally challenging, and our students demonstrated tremendous grit, perseverance, and problem-solving ability in earning these honors. Congratulations!
