MES Fifth Graders Take on STEM Cardboard Challenge

MES Fifth Graders Take on STEM Cardboard Challenge

Enter the amazing world of cardboard! Before our spring recess, Mitchell Elementary School fifth graders took on the STEM-oriented Cardboard Challenge and spent six weeks planning, designing, testing, and refining arcade-style games to appeal to a kindergarten audience.

The MES library was buzzing throughout the process, with students eager to get to work. Many took additional initiative by creating their own prizes and even using indoor recess time to perfect their designs. The 5th graders had a blast showing their games to the MES Pre K and Kindergarten students, as well as their families.

Our Region 14 Vision of a Learner attributes were at work -- adapt and adjust, collaboration, communication, and creativity. Thank you to MES LMC Specialist Allison Loiseau for bringing this exciting project to life.
