First Grade Lesson With Clay Helps MES Students Learn Phonics

First graders at Mitchell Elementary School spent time practicing building vce (vowel consonant e) words with Model Magic Clay. This table-top phonics lesson engages the students in many ways. They use their senses to build letter recognition, sound-letter correspondence, and the modeling of letters helps them with their fine motor skills.
