5th Grade History Day for MES Students Brings Local History to Life
Mitchell Elementary School fifth graders walked down Main Street and back in time for a local history field trip.
Fifth graders got a sense of what life was like in the 18th century at their annual History Walk and Tour of the Glebe House and Gertrude Jekyll Garden, Hurd House, and historic buildings and homes near Hollow Park. Students spent the day learning about 18th-century Woodbury from the living historians in period dress, toured the old school house, and played games to guess the different artifacts.
Nonnewaug High School Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society members were also on hand to help lead their younger peers on the field trip tours and facilitate the "What's It" guess the artifact game. Thank you to the Glebe House Museum & The Gertrude Jekyll Garden for this wonderful learning day for Mitchell Elementary School fifth graders.
