It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Bethlehem Elementary School website! We are a kindergarten through grade 5 school located in Litchfield County. Bethlehem Elementary School is part of Regional School District #14, serving the communities of Bethlehem and Woodbury.
Our mission is to provide a positive and safe learning environment for all children who attend BES. We are committed to creating a child-friendly school, which challenges all students while fostering a life-long love of learning. Our school provides an environment that is conducive to the academic, social, and personal growth of the early elementary age child. Literacy is an integral part of all we do at Bethlehem Elementary School. Our ultimate goal is for children to become life-long readers and writers, and this begins with a love of literacy early on. Students are given multiple opportunities throughout their school day to listen to, read, and reflect on many different types of texts, from classic literature to informational articles. Children are instructed at their developmental levels as they are taught the basic skills and strategies necessary to become accomplished readers and writers. In mathematics, students learn the basic principles of arithmetic, understanding the use and concept of numeracy, addition, subtraction, number value, and mathematical reasoning.
We stress the tenets of good citizenship in daily activities both within our school and in the community. Our school code, “I am Safe, Responsible, Respectful, and Prepared” focuses on the benefits of a climate of kindness and respect where all community members feel accepted, important, and secure.
The partnership between home and school is one of our highest priorities. We are very fortunate to have an involved Parent-Teacher Organization that sponsors many exciting programs. These include school and family activities, as well as volunteer and fundraising efforts throughout the year.
At BES, we truly are the BEST! Our students and staff are working hard and we are cultivating a love of learning in our young children. I welcome your input and communication, as we continue to work in partnership to provide the highest quality education for our young learners. Please feel free to call, email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or stop by the school if you have any questions.
